We made it! After a 5 hour flight to LA (tuesday evening), a 15 hour flight to Sydney, and a 3 hour flight to Queenstown (landing Thursday afternoon in NZ), we are finally in our nice little townhouse, showered and ready for adventure! We have had issues with our wifi on all of our devices, so I haven't been able to post. But we have been here now for 2.5 days. When we landed, the weather was sunny and 75 ahhhhhh. Finally some warm and sunny weather!! Our townhouse is so great- three bedrooms, gas fireplace, full kitchen, 2 balconies, and the most beautiful view of Lake Wakatipu and the mountains that surround it. We went out to explore as soon as possible and sat down for lunch at a quaint little restaurant with outdoor seating right on the water. We tried some local beers (there are so many breweries in this tiny little country!) and then walked down the street and picked up some gelato. The town of Queenstown is so quaint! There are a million different restaurants, shops, and bars. The people are mostly young and there is a lot of energy!
These are all views from our balcony in different directions. Isn't it breathtaking?
We celebrated Chris' birthday all day! Chris, Andrew's best friend, has been living in New Zealand since October. He travels around and works wherever he can find a job. So far, he's worked in a lady's garden, an apple orchard, and in a few different vineyards. How cool is that?! We landed in NZ on his 26th birthday, Andrew turns 26 next week, and our wedding anniversary is next month! We have a lot to celebrate during our time here!

Unfortunately, Friday's weather wasn't as pretty as Thursday's. It rained all morning so we stayed in, cooked a little breakfast and rested from our jet lag. After lunch, Andrew and I walked around downtown and then met up with Chris to take the gondola up the mountain! There is a gondola directly behind our apartment that goes all the way to the top of the mountain. At the top, there is a nice restaurant, bar, stargazing, bungee jumping, and a luge course. We had a BLAST racing on the luge course!! If you ever make it to Queenstown, the skyline luge is a must! Then we got a glass of wine at the bar while we enjoyed the beautiful scenery. After our little mountain top experience, we ate some sushi downtown and met up with two of Chris' French friends. They were so nice and we can't wait to spend some more time getting to know them!
Today is Saturday and the weather is rainy and cold- in the 50's! It's like we brought the yucky weather with us from Georgia! But we won't let it get us down. We walked to brunch this morning at an adorable little restaurant that had stone walls and a fireplace. This afternoon, we might go visit a nearby historic gold mining town. I'll keep you posted!!
