"The entry of a home serves a far bigger purpose than just a place to hang a coat and toss a stack of mail. It introduces visitors to your house and tells a little bit about what they will find inside"

Our bungalow doesn't really have a designated entryway, so I used the wall opposite the front door to serve as our "foyer" and it has turned out to be one of my favorite spots in our house! I love that when the weather is nice, I can leave the front door open and all of the neighbors and runners and walkers and dogs can see this little snippet of what's inside.
I used a hand-me-down console to hold the lamps and frames. It was nice to have a free piece of furniture and the drawer space is a much-needed commodity in our tiny home. I hope to one day find really unique vintage drawer pulls to make the console really stand out but for now, it's just a normal wooden console with normal wooden nobs. It works because it fits the space perfectly and adds a nice warmth. Above the console is the antique mirror my mom gave me for Christmas a couple years back. I love its matte gold finish, so I used that as inspiration for the rest of the tabletop decor.
The gold lamps you see here did not always look this glamorous. They are dollar store turquoise and silver lamps that I had in my old apartment. The cheap-o turquoise and silver just wasn't cutting it, so I spray-painted them matte gold to match the mirror. Thank goodness it worked out- I love them now and Andrew is always happy when I save us some money!
What makes this table special is the use of metals. Mixing gold and silver creates a contrast that really makes this space unique and eye-catching. I think what really stands out to me about this space is that the lack of color turns out to be very complimentary of the soft blue/green color on the walls. My mom's best friend gave me the idea to display all of my silver frames here. Wasn't that the best advice ever? Thank you Mary Leigh! I really love how her simple idea translated into our living room space (which is otherwise very colorful). The mis-matched silver frames create a contrast that is so eye-catching among the matte gold lamps and mirror and with the warm finish of the table... and I just couldn't help myself to fill them all with wedding photos!
Walking through our front door to the "foyer" helps me to find a little bit of inspiration in the day-to-day craziness. And like a good flirt, I hope it keeps our guests wanting more!
