Today is the day we embark on our 36 hour trip to New Zealand... sorry, maybe you didn't read that right. I said our THIRTY SIX HOUR TRIP. Whaaaat?! yeah. We have a couple layovers haha. So maybe if I have time, I'll share with y'all my travel outfit and any interesting travel stories- keep an eye out on social media! My post today will be short and sweet because I have so much to do before we head off. I will take close to a million pictures while we are there and I'll post whenever I can (I won't be able to post every single day)... oh yeah, I forgot to tell y'all the most important part of this trip: we have no plans. Literally. Andrew rented a town house for the first three nights but other than that, I have no clue what this trip holds, which is really exciting but also a little scary. Wish us luck!
I'm going to miss this girl most of all. I don't know why (i mean, cats are very self sufficient and have 9 lives!) but I worry about her whenever we are away!! We had to say goodbye this morning. It was so tough.
We had the best Valentine's weekend! I have to admit, it didn't turn out the way I had planned our first married Valentine's day to be, but the way it ended up was way better! Andrew and I went up to Highlands, NC, a small mountain town we both have been visiting since our childhood. It was freezing cold up there! low of 7 degrees!!!! BURRRRR!!! But we were busy and spent most of our time inside, so the cold weather actually made it more of an adventure! Andrew's brother, his wife, their two kids (1 yr. old and 1.5 mo. old), and their brother and sister in-law were all staying at the house for the weekend as well. It was really fun getting to spend time with them; Andrew is the youngest of four and all of his siblings are married and have kids. As you can imagine, when his family gets together there's a lot going on. Don't get me wrong, It's SO much fun! but since we all live in different places, I cherish the time spent with Andrew's siblings apart from big family get-togethers.
But really, how precious is my niece?!? I'm a lucky girl to have married into this family!
The weather in Highlands this weekend was to die for! The sun was shining and the wind wasn't too strong (until Saturday night when I couldn't sleep because it sounded like the wind was going to blow the house down!). Andrew and I went for a walk, threw rocks at the frozen lake, taunted the swans (luckily, we didn't get attacked), shopped around downtown, and met up with Andrew's work friends. Yep, our friends were up in Highlands as well!
My handsome Valentine!
Andrew owns a pizza restaurant called Your Pie, a fast-casual pizza franchise that started in Athens, GA. Our restaurant is in Snellville, GA but there are many other locations scattered throughout the southeast. Since Your Pie is fairly new and most locations are in athens/Atlanta area, most corporate team members and franchise owners are close to our age and we get to see each other a good amount. We have gotten to be good friends with the everyone on the Your Pie team and always enjoy spending time with them!
Another one of the "babies"! Our friends, Natalie and Drew's daughter
Andrew, for some crazy reason, hates making plans. So we are always trying to pull off dinner reservations and weekend plans together at the last minute. Depending on my mood, living life with no plans can be really fun or really frustrating and this weekend was no different. Andrew had no plans at all, but like most girls, I had planned out the whole weekend in my head-- Lots of alone time, romantic dinner at a nice restaurant, then drinks and live music in the Hummingbird Room at The Old Edwards Inn, the best place to spend a chill night sipping cocktails and nice wine in town. When will I learn not to "make plans"?! Instead, we ate Mexican with Andrew's family, our friends and three babies. Even though I'm normally jumping up and down to go eat Mexican, it wasn't what I had in mind for our Valentine's dinner. In all honesty, I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to spend my Valentine's dinner holding hands and sipping champagne with my husband. But after my frozen margarita and burrito supreme, I couldn't help but smile because I knew that my night had turned out BETTER than I had imagined. We had a blast laughing, sharing stories, and being with people we don't get to see every day. I loved every minute!
And to my surprise, Andrew and I got our alone time on Sunday- we ate a quiet little lunch and relaxed at the spa at Old Edwards then went by Sweet Treats-- my favorite ice cream in the word! I'm so glad we spent our weekend with precious friends and family. It was the best unexpected Valentines Day ever!
Sweet Treats is a MUST HAVE in Highlands! Mint Choc. Chip with marshmallow. Y U M .
And the pink continues! Even though Valentines has come and gone,

Spring, where are you?!?!?!?!? It was supposed to snow today in Atlanta, but now it's only forecasted to rain. I guess there will be no winter wonderland in ATL this year. So I'm ready for warmer weather!
