T H I S M O R N I N G the first question of my Bible study was "Moses was described as 'the man of God.' Whom do you know today that you would describe as a 'man or woman of God' and why?". Every now-and-then, my Bible study asks questions that stump me and this was one of them. I wrote a list of names- and they ended up to be people I know personally. Just your normal, every day people who I have always looked up to for one reason or another. As I looked at the list of names and tried to find a common thread between them, I realized why they are all people of God in my eyes :: Honesty!

All of my "Godly people" had one thing in common- genuine honesty in who they are. Their titles in life are party planner, interior designer, farmer, adventurer, scholar, comedian, skilled public speaker, talented artist, and dear friend. Even though I am not their BFF, I know their interests, their passions, and their skills. I know that these people love God but not just because they work at a church, or because they like to talk about God, or because they read a lot of Christian books, or because they were the "perfect child". I know they love God because it is evident in the way they love others. BINGO! As I realized this, that little light turned on in my head :: The people I look up to as Christians are just genuine people who do their thing, pursue their passions, don't try too hard, and don't deny the fact that they are HUMAN. They are humble, transparent, honest, and genuinely joyful because they are filled with the Holy Spirit.
Isn't that so freeing?!? I find so much life knowing that I just have to be ME (my humble opinions, my sins, my desires, my passions... the whole caboodle). If I'm filled with the Holy Spirit and if I find my source of life in God's word, then as I go about my day doing the things that I LOVE doing, I will shine. People will know you are God's because they see you as a normal human who loves others in a non-human way-- with God's love!
Who are the Humans of God in your life? Why do you look up to them and why do you relate to them even though you might not have much in common?
