Sculpture. Industry. Culture

A R E    T H E   three words that best describe the inspiration and direction of Made in Monroe, a new project that Andrew and I have been working on for the past six months. I'm so happy to finally share it with y'all!!

Made in Monroe is a custom residential and commercial furniture company run by Scott Dilley, the mastermind behind the operation. Scott has an impressive bio, including studies in sculpture and carpentry and time spent living in Egypt and other countries abroad.
Andrew met Scott when we were in the process of building our first Your Pie. We couldn't find just the right tables, so Andrew (being the resourceful and creative soul he is) decided to get them made on his own. He bought wood from Holder Bros., a timber framing and reclaimed wood source in Monroe. Rick Holder scours the world for the most beautiful wood from old industrial buildings, schoolhouses, bridges, and abandoned historical structures. Can you imagine that anyone would demolish a gorgeous old building to make way for new construction?! Unfortunately, it happens every single day and always blows my mind! But thank God for Rick and his sons- they get to the construction site before the materials are unsalvageable. It's crazy to think about the lives and stories that the walls and floors of a 100 year old structure keep hidden deep inside their weathered woodgrain. Scott built and finished the original Your Pie Snellville tables made of this reclaimed wood... little did we know that he would soon be building tables to be shipped all over the country for new restaurants and salons!

Other than making the tables for every new Your Pie restaurant in America, Made in Monroe is also designing and building a rustic salon equipment line for Minerva, the largest salon equipment provider in the world, also located in Monroe (So pretty much, Monroe is looking like a powerhouse of awesomeness right now).

Currently, the guys have been working out of Scott's small studio at the old Avondale Mill located downtown but we are almost ready to move into our brand new studio just a few steps away from Scott's space! It was such a fun place to design- it's always been a dream of mine to decorate a gorgeous old industrial space with high ceilings, huge industrial style windows, a shower of natural light and old paint chipping off the exposed brick walls. It's not quite finished yet, but y'all will be the first to see pictures when we finally get moved in! In the meantime, check out what our operation looks like in Scott's studio! The Mill is such an inspiring place to work- we are lucky to have landing in such an amazing place!

Love,
