Saturday afternoon, I was feeling a bit sleepy and lazy because the weather was so yucky and cold but the boys got me up and out of the house. We drove out of Queenstown and planned on visiting a small historic gold mining town nearby called Arrowtown. One the way, we passed a pretty vineyard called the Gibbston Valley Cheesery and Winery and decided to stop for a tasting!
We had fun devouring our cheese board and discussing our favorite wines. The cheese in New Zealand is SO good!!! I'm really glad we made this little pit-stop and while we were there, the sun came out! We headed on to Arrowtown and I was pleasantly surprised to find the quaintest little town. It was crowded with people and had great energy- I loved it! The houses were adorable- I hope we get the chance to go back soon!
Sunday (yesterday) morning, we got up and drove 1.5 hours with our friends Sylvain (pronounced "silva")and Laura to a hike that Chris had been wanting to try. We hiked through the woods, fields, and mountains for two and a half hours and finally stopped at a gorge deep in the mountains. The boys found a cliff low enough to jump off of into the freezing cold glacier water while Laura and I watched and took pictures. We then continued our two and a half hour hike back to the car. Even though our legs feel like jello this morning and we have a million bug bites, it was so worth it! And we love our new French friends!
Hold tight, I think you'll like to see what tomorrow's activities entail... it's Andrew's birthday and we are doing something craaaaazzzyyyyy!!!!
