T O D A Y I thought to myself, "I wonder what the latest news in Matchbook Mag is? I haven't heard from them in a while". So I pulled up MatchbookMag.com and to my incredible disappointment, found that the magazine is now discontinued!! The duo owners decided it was time to retire from the magazine.
Why? I do not know, but Katie and Jane left us with this letter found in their last issue:
I feel like I just lost a dear friend. I felt more connection with Matchbook than any publication ever. It's girly viewpoint of the world, mixed with mischief, color, and a modern/traditional style really pulled on my heartstrings. My heart would skip a beat whenever I turned that page to find something even more beautiful than before. I know I sound a bit cheesy, but pictures are my love language! And Kate and Jane knew exactly where to find the best colors, architectural details, hidden gems, and new and upcoming designers and brands.
I hope that one day I'll find a complimentary publication that will invite me into the homes of my favorite designers, socialites, and business owners, and educate me of the most fashionable clothing and housewares brands... but until then, adieu Matchbook!
In the meantime, I'll spend my time searching through the pages of these magazines: Domino and Rue Magazines. Both are a tad too modern for my traditional taste, but I still like their style. If you know of any awesome blogs or publications like Matchbook, I would love to hear your thoughts!
Farewell, Matchbook Mag!
